WOW! What a day this has been already! I was a bit apprehensive leaving my girls this morning, but I think that my husband (and my mother) are up for the challenge.
The Northwest flight was uneventful, except for this wonderful woman, Elyse, that I sat next to.
Elyse works for the lobbying firm run by former NYS Senator Alfonse D’Amato. Growing up in NY (specifically Nassau County), D’Amato is one of my hero’s! He was a wonderful Senator for NY and a godfather to those of us growing up in Nassau County politics (he was also a Professor of mine in graduate school).
Needless to say, I was fascinated by Elyse’s career — even found myself a little envious! It was great to rehash some old stories and have a young and friendly face to share them with.
The journey from the airport to the hotel was another highlight to my day (and it is only 12:15 local time). I had the immense pleasure to ride on the hotel shuttle with Representatives Jones, Barrows, deMacedo, Hargraves, Porier and Perry and Sheriff Hodgkins. Being one of only three others on the shuttle who was not an elected official, they made me feel very welcome and comfortable. Quite honestly, I laughed the whole way to the hotel! I truly enjoyed talking to all of them and getting to know them on our ride over! I am looking forward to sharing a few more laughs with them over the next few days!
The hotel is buzzing with delegates, guests and media. Former Massachusetts Lt. Governor Kerry Healey walked in and it was as if it were Jennifer Aniston … the cameras were rolling and hands were busy writing down every word she said.
We are off to the Xcel Center shortly, just to open the convention. I think today will be relatively somber. Everyone here keeps saying the same thing … those poor people in the South … our thoughts and prayers go out to all of them!!!!
Thanks honey and my babies for giving me the freedom to take this great adventure!!!!

Jen Nassour! Hi Sweetheart! I am so glad you are enjoying this fabulous opportunity to represent Mass. at the Convention and to be an official blogger. I have been blogging for some time and enjoy chatting with people from all over the country. This week I have been blogging rhetorical questions to Obama. e.t. Why are you poking fun at McCain for forgetting the number of homes he owns when you can’t remember how many states our homes are in? If you and your wife, Michele, rose to greatness from the backwoods of America, why would you want to change a country that allowed you to become who you are? Don’t you think the Kennedy children’s peccadilloes Palin comparison to Sarah’s? But then, again, this blog is about you and how proud we are to see you on screen. Those guys you rode over with, Perry, Hargraves, Leader Brad Jones are all my buddies. Tell them you are my granddaughter. Love them all. And yes, C.J.Grace and Georgia deserve a loud hurrah too. Can’t wait to see you on Chronicles. I have e-mailed the world to see your enthusiasm on your beautiful Republican face. Count this Democrat in. Sarah is a fresh new face not “more of the same.” Love Grandmother Marie.

Jen Nassour. Oh my such a faux paux. The pecadilloe comment is backwqrd. Think Obama will know the difference? I guess I am so furious at the negatives being thrown as this vivacious, refreshing young woman. I just don’t understand why it is important to trash her personal life……to know about Sarah’s husband’s twenty year old DUI and not Obama’s youthful use of drugs. Yes, Sarah’s life is Palin comparison to that of her political opponents. Love, Gram.

Good Morning Jen: Last night was a fabulous show of what America can expect from the McCain-Palin ticket. The genuiness of Laura Bush, Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman was obvious to anyone who watched with true concern for our country. This issue of heaping invectives on Gov.Palin has me angry….real angry! Every “issue” raised against Obama appeared to be squashed by the media and yet they seem to be salivating over things Gov. Palin could not control.
And this latest charge that McCain did not vet Palin enough…..what good did twenty years of associating with Ayres and Jeremiah Wright do for Obama? When asked about their “character flaws” In each instance, he simply replied, ” That’s not the man I knew.” After twenty years? Some decisions can’t wait twenty years. As President you don’t get twenty years to know the terrorists and enemies!
I can’t imagine women not rising to this task. Enough is enough. Ask the same questions of men….apparently no one asked John Edwards anything..even close. How did that big an affair get by the press? Well, anyway, I can’t imagine your pleasure at being there and seeing all those real Americans. It reminded me of America’s greatness before the far left took center stage.
My bottom line? We can trust John McClain with our country, he has already shown he would give his life to prove it! I never knew he could not lift his arm to salute the flag, the same flag that Obama finds difficult to pin on his lapel. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait to hear all your stories when you come back home to Massachusetts! Love Grandmother Parente.
